All volunteers who work with youth or vulnerable adults, in any role for any amount of time, are required to meet the mandatory Safe Environment requirements of the Newark Archdiocese. These requirements are as follows:- Completion of a volunteer application which includes the Archdiocesan Code of Ethics
- Completion of a criminal background check
- Attendance at a Protecting God’s Children Workshop for Adults

As you may have noticed, the Volunteer Application asks volunteers to give the church permission to run a background check using the services of a credit reporting agency. Many of our volunteers have questions about that policy. Please read the following memo from Karen Clark, Director of Child and Youth Protection for clarification.
